Ever wonder how all those academic tests are scored? Well, some of them are handled by a computer,
but others need to have a more human touch.
ETS offers both
onsite and online scoring opportunities.
As a WAH website, the online
opportunities are much more interesting since they can be done from home. At the time of this posting, there are over
five types of tests that can be applied for a scoring position. Be sure to read the details for each test
before applying as each test has different requirements based on the type of
test when it comes to location, education, experience and more. For instance, there are some available opportunities
for foreign language certifications that would require the scorer to have
knowledge of English and teach the foreign language that the test-taker is
being certified in for the test. Some
only require a bachelor’s degree with teaching experience preferred, but be
sure to check that you fit all the requirements along with checking your
equipment.
Pros:
- Full-time or part-time positions available\
- Helping students get timely scores
Cons:
- Some require specific experience, location or other requirements
- Specific home office equipment needed
- Number of test takers will determine the number of scoring personnel needed
- No specifics on pay, if training is paid, or other benefits
Overall, I think that this is an interesting WAH
opportunity, especially for teachers or former teachers looking for some extra
income. Do you have any experience with
this company or are thinking of applying?
