Welcome to Why I WAH

When I was thinking of an appropriate name for my blog, I decided on Why I WAH for the simple reason that I'm not only trying to be successful at working from home, but I want to help others do the same. It is not always easy to work from home no matter what anyone says. You have to have the drive and dedication to getting the job finished. Many times you will not have a boss breathing down your neck to finish an assignment. So, you also have to think about why you want to WAH, as well, and hold that close to give you the perseverance to work at it.

Gone, But Not Forgotten, New WAH Opportunity

I know that I have been absent for far longer than I had originally thought I would be.  My youngest son just turned 7 months old on Christmas Day.  Life has gotten a lot more complicated dealing with a baby along with a preschooler, trying to keep house and earn money to pay my bills.  Stress has been my friend and nemesis all through this.

However, this blog has continued to be in the back of my mind.  I am not coming back right away with new posts, as I am working on an eBook on WAH that encompasses everything I cover here, but while looking over questions for an upcoming interview, I decided that I should give a quick shout-out.
I have plans to add some new posts here and there, including one covering my interview, but will not be posting as often as I had in the past.  At least, not right now.  However, I will leave with you with this tidbit.

iWriter

This is a new company that I have come across.  The great thing is that even though it is a website where you get paid to write, you only need to create an account.  Then, you chose what assignments you want to write, get them written during the time limit and then the buyer will either approve or reject your work.  Many article writing companies require that you submit a sample of work before they hire you, but for this, you sign up for your account and off you go.  I urge you to read the FAQ's and watch the video they have to completely understand the terms of the website.

Pros:
  • Work when you are able.
  • Pays by PayPal.
  • Pick how often you want to be paid.  Available options are weekly, every 2 weeks, on the 5th or the 25th.
  • Paid per word, the higher your rating the higher your pay.
Cons:
  • Only have a short window to complete the article, just a few hours.
  • May take awhile to build up your star level to earn the higher pay rate per word.
  • Requester can reject your work, meaning no pay for the time you have spent.
Basically, it boils down to how well you are with following directions and your writing skills.  If this is your first time working this type of WAH job, I advise you to try to choose either short articles or ones on topics you are very comfortable writing with.  To get an idea of the type of articles you can find yourself writing, check out Ezine Articles to get an idea of articles that can be requested.
When I write an article, I do my research, write it out, read it over before submitting and run it through a plagiarism/grammar checker.  Only after I have double checked that I have followed the directions to a T do I submit the work.  You may notice something that you missed the first time around.  There are times when they may be unclear what they are asking for, but as you go along, you will learn which are just looking for a general article and when you may need to ask more questions.  This can help to prevent your article from being rejected, remember though, that at times it can be hard to please every requested.  Even I have been rejected at times.
