Welcome to Why I WAH

When I was thinking of an appropriate name for my blog, I decided on Why I WAH for the simple reason that I'm not only trying to be successful at working from home, but I want to help others do the same. It is not always easy to work from home no matter what anyone says. You have to have the drive and dedication to getting the job finished. Many times you will not have a boss breathing down your neck to finish an assignment. So, you also have to think about why you want to WAH, as well, and hold that close to give you the perseverance to work at it.

Payment Methods

Tomorrow's post will be about eBay so I thought it would be a good idea to talk about payment methods that WAH workers can expect. There are three main methods that I've really come across during my time of working WAH positions. These are paper checks, direct deposit, and PayPal. When getting started with WAH positions they will outline how they pay, and it is probably best to be proactive with having accounts ready before you are hired. If you do not have a checking account already it can be a good idea to get one. It is getting harder and harder to find actual free checking accounts, but is worth the time and research. Cashing your paper checks at check cashing places or other places willing to cash it can cost you money in the long run. If a position becomes available that offers direct deposit you certainly do not want to worry about finding a bank to go through when you are trying to focus on learning about your new position.

Finally, there is PayPal. Now, it seems to me that there are two factions of people out there, those that love PayPal and those that hate it. Personally, I'm in the group that loves PayPal. I've been a member of PayPal for years from back when I just enjoyed purchasing items off of eBay. PayPal is a reputable company that is actually a sister company of eBay, but has grown to more than that. Depending on how money is sent to you through PayPal will decide on whether or not there are fees. Some of the companies that I work for send the money where you do not have PayPal fees, but others choose to send it as a payment which causes fees. The fees are not very high, but of course, as with anything they do add up. Now when it comes to getting your money there are a few ways to do that. My particular favorites are by transferring the funds to my checking account and by using my PayPal debit card. When transferring funds to your checking account it does take about three days for the money to transfer, but it is a free service. When I need money quicker than that I depend on my PayPal debit card. After you have had your PayPal account open for a certain amount of time you are able to request a debit card. It can pay to sign up for PayPal earlier than you actually need it so that you can get your debit card quicker. You can make a purchase with your card, use your card as a debit during checkout and get cash back, or you can use an ATM. Making a purchase with your card is free. Lately, I've been using it to get cash back that I can deposit into my account since this is another free method of getting your money. When you use the ATM there are fees involved. Always check your fee schedule at PayPal to see what they will be.
