Welcome to Why I WAH

When I was thinking of an appropriate name for my blog, I decided on Why I WAH for the simple reason that I'm not only trying to be successful at working from home, but I want to help others do the same. It is not always easy to work from home no matter what anyone says. You have to have the drive and dedication to getting the job finished. Many times you will not have a boss breathing down your neck to finish an assignment. So, you also have to think about why you want to WAH, as well, and hold that close to give you the perseverance to work at it.

Paid Internship at LKR Social Media

Okay, so you’ve decided you want to WAH, but you are wondering what types of opportunities are available for you to take advantage of.  The thing is that it’s a really open market if you understand the niche that you can fit into.  Not sure about your skills?  That’s okay.  An internship can be a great opportunity for you to learn about a certain field and a paid internship means that you will actually be paid to learn.

Social Media is a powerful tool that businesses big and small are utilizing to its fullest potential, and these companies want to hire people that are well versed in social media.  Now, you’re thinking to yourself that you utilize social media, but you don’t know if you really have the skills to offer to a company.  That’s where a paid internship at LKR Social Media might come in handy.  You can get a job that pays you to WAH while learning more about the industry.

LKR Social Media is a company that provides training courses and materials for small business owners to learn about how their business can benefit from using online marketing and social media.  They pay $8.00 an hour for 10 to 20 hours a week over a six-month internship.  They have two different opportunities to choose from currently.  They are looking for a Blog Apprentice and a Community Apprentice.

No matter which position you are looking at you need to be familiar with the internet, have good communication skills, be able to learn new online tools in a quick manner, live in North America, be available for 10 to 20 hours a week and be a go to person that’s friendly.

The Blog Apprentice position requires experience with WordPress and basic HTML, ability to work with Excel and Google Analytics, flexibility, and troubleshooting skills.

The Community Apprentice position requires someone who can communicate well with others, and understands what it take to build relationships.  This person must have a sense of humor and love social media and marketing.  Problem-solving skills are also vital to this position.

Pros-

  • An opportunity to be paid to learn
  • Two different open positions available
  • Flexible schedule

Cons-

  • Contact may not be renewed after six months
  • Many applicants for few positions
  • Part-time hours only
  • Limited information on payment type, dates, employee versus independent contractor, and so on

This is one that I think should be very appealing to those looking to see if their skills are up to the task of going out on their own to run a social media marketing business or just want to learn more about the business to improve your resume.  Be sure to apply right away as these positions may not stay open for long.  I would love to hear from anyone that has any success with this venture or has worked previously for the company.
