Welcome to Why I WAH

When I was thinking of an appropriate name for my blog, I decided on Why I WAH for the simple reason that I'm not only trying to be successful at working from home, but I want to help others do the same. It is not always easy to work from home no matter what anyone says. You have to have the drive and dedication to getting the job finished. Many times you will not have a boss breathing down your neck to finish an assignment. So, you also have to think about why you want to WAH, as well, and hold that close to give you the perseverance to work at it.

Following Your Passion - Tmber

If you have been following my posts, you know that one of the things I recommend WAH newbies to do is to create lists about what you have to offer the world.  Your passions, hobbies, and interests can actually land you a paying gig.

Today’s post is about an opportunity with Tmber.  This is an opportunity that hikers, bikers and adventure seekers can sink their teeth into.  The opportunity is to write trail guides.  This is a short-term writing position that will pay per route at an hourly rate and some incentives.  They do require a college degree or equivalent work experience, two years of writing experience, samples, organizational skills, experience with Excel, experience with Google Drive, knowledge of online map services, detail orientated, accomplish your tasks without a great deal of supervision and deadline orientated.  If you think that this describes you, then be sure to apply ASAP as this position may not last long.  To apply, send the following items in an email to Daniel: your resume, relevant writing sample, any links to your online writing, and “Last, as we'll be expanding beyond hiking, tell us which three of these you're most familiar with: hiking, backpacking, trail-running, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, kayaking/canoeing, stand up paddling, mountain biking” (pulled right from their website).

Pros-

  • Hourly pay
  • Possible Incentives
  • Growing company

Cons –

  • Short-term contract position
  • No details on payment methods and other important details

This can be a great position for someone that loves the outdoors, and is looking to make some money doing what they love.  Be sure to apply quickly as this type of position may not stay open for long.
